Assessor
The Assessor is an appointed position that is responsible for assessing the value of properties for taxation purposes.
To find your assessed property value, you may:
- Review your tax bill
- Go to Parcel Data and enter your house address to search for your property’s information.
- Contact the assessor.
Annual Assessment & Board of Review
Annual assessment change notices are sent out to affected property owners in spring with an “Open Book” to follow shortly after.
To Appeal Your Assessment:
First, discuss with your local assessor:
Questions can often be answered by the assessor and not require an appeal to Board of Review. (You may speak with you assessor at anytime during the year regarding your assessed value except for limited times prior to BOR).
To file a formal appeal:
Give notice of your intent to appeal by contacting the BOR clerk at least 48 hours before the BOR begins. Complete and file your appeal form with BOR clerk no later than the first two hours of the BOR’s first meeting. Make sure you file a completed form or the BOR may not review your appeal.
