SMU stands for Scott Municipal Utility, represented by a Commission of 5 Town of Scott residents focused on water, sewer and storm water. More details are found on departments – Scott Municipal Utility.
It is a volunteer organization of people from Town of Scott, Town of Green Bay, Town of Humboldt supporting and raising funds for the Fire Department. New members are always welcome. Find us on Facebook at Friends of New Franken Fire Department, Inc.
The New Franken Department is primarily funded by the Town of Scott, Town of Green Bay, and Town of Humboldt. Additional funds are raised through events like the Firefighter’s Smelt Fry (hosted by the New Franken Fire Department) and the September Run/Walk (hosted by the Friends of New Franken Fire Department).
Residents of the Town of Scott may vote in the annual town(held in April) and budget town meeting in October. Specific powers of a meeting of a town’s electors can be found in Section 60.10 of the Wisconsin Statutes.
A public hearing is a meeting where interested parties can voice their opinion on the hearing topic. This is most commonly used for ordinance changes. The actual voting will be done by the Town Board during the official Town Board meeting following the public hearing.
An ordinance, enacted by local government, is a law or regulation addressing local issues. Examples include: constructions requirements, town road speed limits, parking regulations and licensing requirements.
