Each spring, the Town Board conducts a road tour to assess the structural condition of local roads and develop a maintenance and repair plan.

Projects are then put out for bid and reviewed at a Town Board meeting, where contracts are awarded. Road construction typically takes place during the summer and fall.

Road construction is a Town expense, funded by revenues generated through the Town. The budget is reviewed and approved at the annual budget meeting, typically held in October.

Current Road Projects Include:

Edmund Road Reconditioning
The Edmund Road reconditioning started the week of October 6, 2025.  The project consists of adding about 3 inches of gravel to the roadway and then pulverizing the street with eh gravel and existing pavement.  The contractor will then grade out the roadway, place 3-inches of new pavement and place a one-foot gravel shoulder on both sides.  Driveways will be cut back as marked with the white paint markings and new asphalt pavement will be placed to match the new roadway. The work should take about 2 weeks to finish.

Completed 2025 Projects Include:

Chip Sealing: The following roads were  chip sealed in 2025 along their entire lengths: Circle Ridge Road, Conard Road, Edwin Lane, Strebel Road, North Hemlock south of Van Lanen, and in the Bay Heights Subdivision—Sparrow, Heron, Loon, Egret, and Osprey Lane.
Chip sealing involves applying a layer of new asphalt over the existing surface, followed by a coating of tar and small aggregate (chip stone). This process creates a smoother surface and extends the life of the road. While it’s not as thorough as full repaving, chip sealing is a cost-effective way to maintain roads.
