Absentee Voting

Voting by absentee ballot is a convenient way to take part in the voting process. A registered voter has the ability to absentee vote, either by requesting an absentee ballot be mailed, or by voting early in the clerk’s office before election day.

Request an Absentee Ballot to Be Mailed:

To vote by mail, an absentee voter must be a registered voter with the Town of Scott. A photo ID must either be on file with the Town, submitted with the request, or the voter must qualify for an exemption (see the form for details).

You have three options to request an absentee ballot:

  1. Request online at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Vote-Absentee-By-Mail
  2. Mail your application:
Fill out the absentee application form https://elections.wi.gov/sites/default/files/legacy/2020-06/EL-121%2520Application%2520for%2520Absentee%2520Ballot%2520%2528rev.%25202020-06%2529.pdf and mail to Town of Scott (2621 Jody Dr. New Franken, WI 54229).
  3. E-mail [email protected]

Electors with a valid request will receive their ballot either 47 days before a federal election, 21 days before all other elections, or within one business day of the request being received.

Deadlines to Request an Absentee Ballot:

Indefinitely confined voters, those requesting a calendar year absentee ballot, and military electors who are not on active duty or away from their residence have until 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before the election to request an absentee ballot.

Regular and overseas voters requesting an absentee ballot for a specific election must submit their request by 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday before the election.

Returning your Absentee Ballot

You have two options for returning your completed absentee ballot:

  1. Mail it back.
All absentee ballots have pre-paid postage. After completing your absentee ballot certificate envelope—and ensuring you and your witness has signed and the witness has included their address—place it in the mail.
Tip: To ensure timely delivery, the U.S. Postal Service recommends absentee ballots to be mailed done week before Election Day to arrive in time.
  2. Return It in Person.
You (the voter) may return your completed absentee ballot to Town Hall at 2621 Jody Dr. You can also use the secure drop box located outside the Town Hall entrance.

Deadline to Return your Absentee Ballot

Absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day to be counted. Make sure that the voter has signed and the witness has signed and included their address. To check the status of your absentee ballot visit: https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Track-My-Ballot.
